![]() ![]() We never felt any irritation or experienced any bumps or ingrown hairs - even hours after we shaved.īut this comfort wasn’t limited to just the blades - the SkinGuard is also one of the most ergonomic razors we tested. The bumpers, along with two lubricating strips, gave us a super-smooth shave. The protective blades made it really feel like the razor head was gliding across our face - something we always heard about in shaving commercials but never experienced in real life. The SkinGuard also provided superior comfort. In fact, excluding the safety razors, we thought it gave one of the closest shaves of the group. ![]() While Gillette says this causes a shave that isn’t as close as its five-blade razors, we didn’t notice much of a difference between the SkinGuard and the other cartridge blades we tested. The razor has little bumpers in between the SkinGuard’s two blades to minimize skin irritation. Out of all the razors we tested, the Gillette SkinGuard gave us the easiest, most comfortable shave by far, mainly due to its specialized blades. At that time, I will post my analysis of how it ranks with the feather overall.Your CNN account Log in to your CNN account ![]() I will continue to use this blade until it needs to be replaced. However, by virtue of being sharper, the feather slices the whiskers more effortlessly and, hence, has less felt drag while it does not feel as smooth in the first shave or two. What I mean here is that the Schick feels more polished due, in part to its being less sharp. * I know draggy and smoother on the opposite sides may be confusing. I doubt it will last as long as a Feather blade it needed more buffing than the feather to get the same result it is noticeably less sharp than the Feather it allows for buffing without irritation Cons of the Schick it is somewhat smoother* than the Feather it feels more like a regular straight than the Feather Comparing it with the Feather Professional blades I have been using for the last couple of years I have the following first impressions. Overall, I got a comfortable BBS with no irritation, nicks or weepers. Today I tried the Schick blade for the AC series of razors in my SS. All other variables will remain constant and I will be using the SS only. I will probably take a day off to let the nick heal up, then I will try out the Schick blade. My current Feather blade in the SS has been in for about a month, so now is a good time to put in a new blade. Next up, comparing the Schick blade to the Feather Pro that I am used to. So - I am concluding this test on the DX. I get just as good a shave with the SS and it is more comfortable and predictable. At this point, I think I have determined that I really do prefer the SS to the DX. My initial plan was to use the DX through Friday. I am not sure why this is the case, but after I got the nick, I switched to the SS to clean up. I have noted that the stiction kicks exclusively when I am going ATG. My comparison was literally putting the 2 razors back to back. You can see this if you look at the PLANofMAN's drawing in the post above this one. ![]() This width, in company with the curve of the blade may be my issue. I don't have a set of calipers, but eyeballing it, it looks like the top is at least 1mm wider on the DX than the SS. In looking at the DX and my SS, I noted that the top of the razor is wider in the DX than the SS. The DX was mostly comfortable, but I still got the stiction a few times. ![]()
